Escaping The Devastation

Below is the sequence of information Jim Bishop received while not hearing from Simon and Reed:

WARNING

REMEMBER THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW IS NOT ABSOLUTE OR FACT, BUT IT WAS THE PERCEPTION JIM BISHOP ACQUIRED DURING THE LONG PERIOD OF NO INFO REGARDING REED AND SIMON!!!

-Jim received an email this morning from the producer for ABC Western Australia Radio Kate Elder. Kate said the following:

"they had just set up themselves behind a 'sturdy' building and my presenter Sinead spoke to them for about 10mins. Just as we finished the interview a large piece of debris apparently fell down close to where they were, so we wrapped up, so that they could get out of the way." This information is second and third-hand information and should be treated as such.

-Early this afternoon Aaron Ruppert received a text message from Reed. It indicated the following (paraphrasing):
We are alive! Simon's car is buried under 12 feet of water. People were stuck in trees. We hitch hiked to Jackson. We have amazing video.
This information is second and third-hand information and should be treated as such.

-Shortly afterwards Jim received a phone call from Simon. After being cut off several times, Simon indicated that they got out of the car to escape flooding waters and got on the second story of the building. He said his car is currently underwater. This information is second and third-hand information and should be treated as such.

Latest: (August 31st) The following is a summary (paraphrasing) of what Reed told Aaron over the phone this afternoon (details are sketchy at this time): This information is second and third-hand information and should be treated as such.

We sat on the second floor of the building for hours watching the flood waters rise. People were stuck in trees, on the top floors of their homes screaming. Rescue workers in boats went by at times. After several hours of seeing people suffering and screaming, watching helicopters fly by, they finally got out of there apparently on a boat. According to Reed, a very small number of people have been able to get out of Slidell. This information is second and third-hand information and should be treated as such.

Simon and Reed are currently in Jackson, Mississippi communicating with the media to get their rare video to the media as EVERYONE wants to know what the situation is in Slidell, Louisiana. More info as it becomes available. This information is second and third-hand information and should be treated as such.

Previous:
Simon and Reed last spoke to Jim at around 7am while they were waiting for things to get nasty in Slidell, Louisiana. They wanted to experience the eye of the storm and Jim felt the eye would pass to their east. However it was too late as Simon mentioned water was everywhere and moving would not be safe at that time. No word yet on what happened (did they move) or what they saw.

In light of this unprecedented hurricane, word got out fast about Simon and Reed chasing the hurricane. Jim arrived at work and received a phone call at 5am CDT from an Australian radio show wanting to talk to a chaser out in the field. Jim gave them Simon's number and they setup a live interview soon after - though it is unknown if that was possible. No word on how this went if it occurred.

Minutes later another radio show (RTE radio) in Ireland called. They wanted to talk to someone who had been watching the storm's progress and could provide commentary on the situation in New Orleans vs. the storm's intensity. Jim provided a live interview shortly afterwards.Listen to the interview.
